Privacy Policy

Ole Brook Web Services (OBWS) provides managed infrastructure, hosting, and DNS management for clients. This policy explains what information we collect, how it is used, and how we partner with Stripe to process voluntary gifts.

1. Information we collect

We do not sell user data or build marketing profiles. The limited information we handle falls into two categories:

  • DNS activity. When your device asks Ole Brook Web Services to resolve a domain, we see the requested domain name in order to answer. We do not log the full IP address making the request.
  • Operational logs. To troubleshoot issues and improve accuracy, we store short-lived logs that include anonymized network information. IPv4 addresses are masked to the /24 level (for example, 123.123.123.123 becomes 123.123.123.xxx). IPv6 addresses are masked to the /48 level (for example, 2600:abcd:1234:5678::1 becomes 2600:abcd:1234:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx).

Logs are retained only as long as necessary to diagnose technical issues and monitor abuse.

2. Gifts and payment processing

We rely on voluntary gifts to offset hosting and maintenance costs. All financial transactions are handled by Stripe, Inc.

  • Ole Brook Web Services does not collect or store your full payment card details.
  • Stripe may collect device and payment information under its own Privacy Policy and Consumer Terms. Please review those policies before submitting a gift.

Providing a gift does not create a customer account, contract, or guarantee of service. Ole Brook Web Services remains a best-effort, no-cost ministry.

3. How we use information

  • Responding to DNS queries so devices can connect to allowed domains.
  • Improving block lists, uptime, and security.
  • Preventing abuse, spam, or attacks against the service.
  • Meeting legal obligations when we receive valid requests from authorities.

4. Data sharing

We do not sell or lease data. Access is limited to trusted Ole Brook Web Services administrators and service providers who help operate the infrastructure. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of users.

5. International access

Ole Brook Web Services operates resolvers in multiple regions to keep performance high. Requests may be routed to servers outside your home country so we can answer quickly and maintain redundancy. By using the service you consent to the transfer and processing of information in those locations.

6. Your choices

  • You may stop using Ole Brook Web Services at any time by changing the DNS settings on your devices.
  • If you have a privacy question about logs related to your IP address, email support@olebrookwebservices.com. Because we intentionally anonymize logs, we may be unable to link specific requests back to you.

7. Changes to this policy

We may modify this policy at any time without advance notice. It is your responsibility to review this page periodically. Continued use of Ole Brook Web Services after updates are posted means you accept the revised policy.
